Asked over the stove

The questions that come up most, answered the way the label would answer them.

How much goes in gravy?

Start at three drops per cup, stir all the way through, look at the spoon, add one drop at a time. The drop counter runs the numbers for any pot size and any dish.

Does the bottle need the refrigerator?

No. A dark shelf and a tight cap are all it asks. The date printed on it speaks to peak color and savor; on a bottle that has been open a long while, a drop on a spoon and your own nose give the final word.

Is there meat in it?

No. The base is vegetables: carrots, celery, cabbage, onion, parsley, turnips and parsnips, with caramel color, spices, salt and water. The caramel color is made with sulfites, and the label says so.

What about gluten and other diet questions?

We answer diet questions with the label rather than with promises. The ingredient list is printed on every bottle, and the bottle in your hand is the copy to check.

Why does my pot taste bitter?

Almost always the dose. This is a drops product, and spoonfuls put a scorched edge on the pot. Thin it with stock, add a pinch of sugar, and start smaller next time.

Where does my order actually come from?

From our retail partner. The buttons in this catalogue hand you to their checkout, and payment, delivery and any way back all live on their side.
